This year can be difficult but don't get too worried. Our team will help you out with your second to last year of High School! Here are some reminders and advice:
General:
From all the activities you have participated, whether that be in after school programs or sports, try to come to a possible major. This is not to commit into this major, this is for you to narrow down your career.
This website helps you with finding the right career for you!
College Prep:
This year will be your last full year to show your academic abilities. Junior year is where you prove to colleges that you are capable of achieving good grades. Having an increased GPA from freshman year to junior year is great news! However, a decreased GPA from freshman year to junior year is not so great news.
Another reason why you should get good grades is for recommendations from teachers. You would want to bring good positivity to your teachers because junior year can be stressful.
Begin to research colleges. If you have not already, you need to visit college campuses that interest you.
Keep in mind that even if the college has your major, the environment can affect you. You need to know more or less if you would like to go to a big or small school depending on your interest.
Do not forget to research scholarships! Believe it or not, it can be very difficult to look for scholarships. These scholarships can have many requirements based of academics, artistix, athletic, or any other abilities.
Try to fit in any opportunities this summer. Colleges like that you can spend your summer wisely like in a internship, summer program, or job. They want to see you challenging yourself and giving yourself a bigger picture of what you can provide for colleges.
Test:
Prepare and take standardized test. Do not wait for Senior Year to take your exams. This year is to focus on all these state exams. This will make your senior year more easier. Even then, if you wait to take them till Senior year, you would’ve already have forgotten some of the material.
